Oh it has been a while! I have started working for some new publishing companies so my website has been a little neglected because of this.  Reading my last post, I notice how much God has blessed me.  I am now steadily busier, which is amazing! Working with publishing companies naturally makes work a little steadier.  Today, I am very thankful and feeling very blessed.  I have been doing this a long time, but sometimes, it takes time.  I have finished some more courses, and with more experience comes more opportunities.  I have worked with some amazing people, and I have been doing this long enough now to have some returning customers, which is very cool!  I have worked with some incredible students, bloggers and the publishing industry has added some experience in professional proofreading in the areas of computer science and coding…a very new sector for this linguist!

I am excited for more of 2019 and what is to come and I plan to keep you all updated on this journey.

We can almost taste summer!  Now that school exams have finished, my days are a little quieter as 99% of my students have had their final sessions of the school year.  With this comes more time for me to focus on Pickering Editorial.  Being a small business owner is tough; sometimes it can feel like a feast or famine.  Work is very rarely steady…there is either too much or too little.  Life has been very busy, so today, I am grateful for the ten minutes I have found to have some reflection.

I also wanted to share something very exciting with you all.  The more time I spend in my office, the prettier I want to make it.  There have been some new additions to the wall and quite frankly, it makes me feel very official.  I am trying to remember to thank God always, even in the famine, because frustration, confusion and stress breads bitterness, ignorance and thanklessness.  I have got better at this; some of it has been from self-growth and the rest has been through the constant reminders of my ever-supportive husband, “Look at how far God has brought you and Pickering Editorial…” and you know what, he is so right!  God has offered me the opportunity to work with some amazing people and even branch into ventures that I never could see myself doing such as working as a subtitler for an extremely reputable company.

This summer, I am focusing on learning lots, working some more and remembering that rest is important too.

I hope to stop by more often to fill you in on my recent affairs!  Share the highs and the lows too…keeping it real always.  Feel free to drop me a line, even just to say hello!

Thanks for reading!

Today marks the start of something serious.  I know I have been quite quiet recently, and I wanted to take a moment to highlight why.  I have been working on my Masters for the past three years now and in March 2018, I finally graduated.  I travelled to Birmingham with my husband and my granny and we had a wonderful day.  Needless to say, the end of that chapter marks the beginning of another.  I am now ready to give my all to this venture as I have been dabbling in and out of it for a long time now.  I am pursuing more courses to further my knowledge and I am working towards achieving my own personal goals and dreams for Pickering Editorial.

I say to myself “The Lord is my inheritance; therefore I will hope in him.”  The Lord is good to those who depend on him, to those who search for him. Lamentations 3: 24-25.
